Jaz
This is Jaz. She is the first kitty we ever rescued. She was on her way to "the pound" when my co-workers and I were given a chance to save her and her sisters. I got the prettiest one.She was not, however the best behaved one. Jaz had a mind of her own. She could open cabinets, and dresser drawers. She liked to climb Gregg's dresser and, while hanging on with one paw, throw all his boxers on the floor with the other. She preferred the dog's food. She loved ice cream and pizza, she would steal your food too. She'd climb out your arm to get to your spoon.
Bye Jazzy-you were a trip.

Chick Magnet
This is my favorite photo from the festivities surrounding Carrie and Ryan's wedding. We were at "Ryan's" Friday night for rehersal dinner and of course the kids were the main entertainment. Evan Reeves is my neice Joy's baby. We will save this picture for all eternity and harass him with it for years to come. For Gregg's wedding pics go to his blog and click on the link.
Growing Up
This is Melody. She is Lily's Chocolate girl. She's a real sweetie and likes to be sung too. Her favorite song is "In My Heart There Rings a Melody".
Sparrow is a little lonely these days. His sister and best buddy went to her new home this week. He is the last of Myrrh's kids. He is trying now to fit in with the babies. He is getting to be a big boy and is every bit as sweet and handsome as his dad.
Corie likes helping make the bed! She likes playing with Grant too. She is very intense and will "chatter" when really excited. She is Lily's girl and as beautiful as her mom. (Sorry for the "red eye" my editing skill are not too good". She went to school with us and really loved the kids. They all passed her around and she had a great time.Sunday, March 30, 2008
More Kittens?
I know its hard to believe...another post about kittens. Here is Sheba's crew. One boy, "Sao Fang" and 3 girls, "Beryl, Jewell & Moon.
Siamese Twins (no they are not attached)

It doesn't pay to not fold the clothes right away around here.
Sheba is bad about bringing her little ones in here with the big kids.

Baby blue eyes.
Three of the kittens are gone now. Two boys and a girl. That leaves 7 of the big kids. It is hard to see them go, hard for us and the mommas but they have found really nice homes.
Sheba's baby's have teeth now so will start them on solid food today. That is always a big step.
The big kittens look soooo big now, its hard to realize they are still babys too.

Out and About
After much discussion and various trial arrangements, the kittens moved out of the big box. In other words Lily won. She kept moving the kittens various places, the worst of which was inside our box spring. The box spring has been repaired so she can't get in it now.
Here are a few of the kids with Myrrh on the dog pillow.
King of the Cat Tree is a favorite game. This cat tree belonged to Grandma White or Aunt Dottie and was handed down to me. Crazy cat ladies run in the family.
Projects.

Little Eyes
We are beginning to see little eyes peeking out at us from amongst all the cream colored fur. All 3 of Myrrh's kittens have their eyes open. Lily's babies are just beginning to open theirs. The picture below shows all 9 kittens if you can tell where one ends and the next begins.
All the shades of cream are so interesting. It is hard to tell what color the points will be.
All these pics were taken today. The kittens have been in a box with their moms so haven't seen much sunshine.I can tell Myrrh's kittens apart now. Will is a whiner-he's pretty loud if you try to hold him, he is the smallest of this bunch. Cotton is whiter than her brothers and quiet and content. Sparrow is the biggest and has shown the 1st interest in exploring. He was trying to play with Lily's ear today and batted at a shadow. He crawled all over my lap and met the dogs and some of the other cat's today.
One thing I've noticed with this many kittens is that they have no odor at all. Having raised lots of puppies, people will mention that they love the smell of puppies and of puppy breath. Kittens smell like nothing at all. Their moms keep them so clean its amazing.
It is such a treat to watch them grow and change, and watch the rest of the household adjust too. I'm so grateful that we have so many healthy, content critters in this house.

Oops We Did It Again!
How many cats can you fit in a box? There are eleven sisters, brothers, aunts and cousins in this one.

Lily decided to haver her kittens a little earlier than anticipated. She insisted on having them in the same box with Myrrh and her kittens. We tried separating them several times but she wouldn't have it, so we let them be.
Everybody seems pretty content. The kittens don't care where they eat lunch and the moms don't care who comes to dinner.

Kitnins! Finally!

Here is Lily. She's not too crazy about showing off her tummy. I just wanted you to see how big they get. Lily's kittens are due about January 26.
I was way off on Myrrh's due date. Lily is as big now as Myrrh was the day she delivered so I don't think I'm too far off.
How sweet is this face? These babies are so tiny! They are popular too. They have already had company. Emily Buckley, my cat sitter came by the first day. Samantha brought her parents over after Sabbath dinner, she had never seen anything so tiny. She had a blast playing with Weezer the most though.
This baby is 4 days old. You can barely see the points beginning to darken. The edges of the ears get dark first then the paws, nose and tail.
This is Myrrh's first litter. They were born on January 9, 08. We have 2 boys and a girl. The boys have pirate names after their daddy (Capn' Jack Weezer), they are Jack Sparrow and Will Turner. The girl's name is a fragrance like their mother (Wisp of Myrrh), she is Cotton Blossom. They are real excited that Grandma and Grandpa Rilea are coming to see them next week and are working on getting their eyes open so they can see them too!

WHATS NEW PUSSYCAT?
Yes, it is always about the cats. Lynx had not been herself for several weeks and was getting rapidly worse, we really thought we were going to loose her. I took her to the vet. He did some blood tests and we found out she has diabetes.
We have started her on a diabetic diet and she is already a lot better. She has gained a little weight and looks happy again. She has the strength to jump up on the coffee table again. We are thrilled. We really thought she was a gonner. I'm sure she would have been if we hadn't found out what was wrong with her.
Lynx has a special place in this house full of cats. We argued many years over who's cat she was but she settled that by claiming Gregg. She has definitly had the largest vet bill of any cat I've ever had with a post delivery infection, a broken leg and now this illness. She also has the highest property damage costs too. Makes you wonder why we love her so much.
She has this way about her that is supremely intelligent. There is never any question as to what she wants-even though she has no voice. She looks at you until you follow her and stares at you and transmits her thoughts or something. Sometimes she takes the more direct approach as when Carrie plays her flute, she'll bite her fingers. Or when the dogs howl she will hurl herself at them and bite the closest noisy mutt.
I think by now she must be on life #7 or 8. We are just glad her life is still with us.
