FACEBOOK

Carrie talked me into getting on Facebook and I've been having so much fun with it. These are pics from my friend Roger Mann.
This is Camp AuSable, Pam Ball and I sang "Neath the Crust of the Old Apple Pie" (which we wrote ourselves to the tune of Neath the Old Apple Tree)_and then we mashed pies in Roger's and Ron Durham's faces. The only difficult thing was singing in public.
Anyway on Facebook I was able to reconnect with Ron and Roger. Talked to both of them today via Instant Messaging. Roger is in Miami-no idea how that happened. Ron is playing lumberjack in the mountains outside LA. From our brief chat I gather he's still a goof.
I've enjoyed talking with other friends too, this is really nice cause that life is soooooo long ago and sooooooooo far away.
Thanks Carrie

RANT

I really like my new blog title, since I work with patients who are always wanting to change their medications due to cost or they just get sick of taking them. And I also work with Doctors who too often think that a pill here or there will fix everything.

We had 2 patients last week that were 100 and 101. We have lots of 80 & 90 somethings. These two ladies were astounding. One was deaf as a post, there with her son, she was determined to hear every word said and be involved in everything, so we shouted a lot. She was able to walk in and climb up on the exam table and undress herself and worry about her hair.

The other was in a wheelchair, there with a daughter. Hair & makeup done (both old ladies actually), but her skin was smooth and rosy. Her birthdate in the computer mistakenly had her as aged 79 (computers don't know what to do with ages over 100 sometimes) She looked more like 70 something and she too took part in all conversations and was able to ask questions and let her needs be known.

People like that inspire me, they unfailingly are kind and bright and have folks around that love and care for them. These two, one black and one white, I wondered if it would have been possible for them to be friends in younger days, now they have so much in common.

I promised to rant when I titled the blog. Sticking with my dosage has gone down the toilet, the medical accronym is CTD (circling the drain). So much pain lately, my back and neck. I finally went to the Dr., she gave me a short course of prednisone, muscle relaxers, and a couple of days off. In case you were wondering this is why I don't go to the Dr. I work for. He'd never give me the days off, or at least he'd hesitate.

I do wonder if the stress of the job is to blame for increased pain. I haven't done anything new to injur myself. I have thought about looking for a new job but am shot at the end of the week. Don't really know what I want to do. I think something different would be less stressful but I have an unreasonable fear of boredom which I equate with paperwork. I like responsibility and productivity and doing the best I can. Medicine is anything but boring unless you are just doing billing or something like that. It would drive me insane(r).

I know lots of people have it tougher than I do. I am glad I have a job. I'm glad I have Fridays and weekends off. I would most like to stay home and raise puppies and kitties and bake my own bread and make my own curtains. If you are reading this and you have just won the lottery, here's your worthy cause.

One day at a time Cheri.
